Background and Training
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology, with concentration in Somatic Psychology - an approach that treats the psyche and the body as an integrated whole. I completed thousands of hours of supervised clinical training and practice in a variety of settings before passing a series of rigorous exams to obtain my MFT licensure.
My interest in therapy, healing, and the mind-body connection began on a personal level and evolved into a vocation. As a former staff member at the Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington, DC, I immersed myself in learning about a variety of approaches to mental and physical wellness that balanced the best of mainstream medicine with the wisdom of healing traditions from around the world.
I continued to explore my fascination with healing and consciousness, and completed a three-year training dedicated to the development of healing skills, professional standards, spiritual inquiry and subtle awareness. During this time I worked one-on-one with a mentor to deepen and expand my ability to relate to myself and others in a healing and therapeutic capacity.
After I earned my Masters from the California Institute of Integral Studies, I worked in the Center for Somatic Psychotherapy, interned as a behavioral therapist for a Bay Area school district, and maintained a private practice in the Noe Valley neighborhood practicing individual, couples and family psychotherapy.
My psychotherapy practice draws on two decades of training and experience in a variety of therapeutic and healing modalities. I may incorporate elements of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Hakomi and Formative Therapy in psychotherapeutic work.
Other interests that have shaped my personal and professional life include intuitive development, contemplative practice, nutrition, cinema, energy healing, creative writing, shamanic practices, yoga, and playing the ukulele.
