Principles of my Practice
Safety. My practice is based on non-violence and the intention to help and heal. While therapy can at times feel difficult or uncomfortable, it occurs within a context of care and support.
Balance. I believe the most effective and nourishing psychotherapy involves finding a balance between using practical, concrete strategies for achieving measurable goals and attuning and attending empathically to what emerges spontaneously in session.
Presence. I use a mindful focus on the present-moment experience of the mind and body to help clients access a deeper, more powerful connection to the therapy and themselves.
Respect. You deserve respect, no matter where you are on your path to wellness. Imperfection is inherent to our humanity, and yet so is dignity. Respectful relationship is a cornerstone of my approach to therapy.
Creativity. In order to survive life's challenges, you have already exercised incredible creativity and intelligence. These are powerful resources which can be called forward forward in therapy to enhance your life.
Mystery. While I love to focus on pragmatic strategies that are useful in your life, I always hold space for mystery - sometimes the most surprising solutions emerge from following our curiosity and exploring the unknown.
Humor. Humor is a healing gift from our wisest self.
